I loved this story! I definitely felt for Ivy. I had a secret admirer back in High School and I wanted to kill him. It was really embarrassing. I also enjoyed the ending. Funny story too, as I caught myself grinning a time or two. Yep, I'd recommend this story and author.Product details

It's come round to that dreaded time of year for Ivy, 'The Festival of Love and Sweet Tidings'.
I really enjoyed this story and adored the feisty teenage protagonist. She's direct but also caring. I could really identify with her plight, unrequited love is never an easy thing to deal with but I really admired how she tried to handle the issue with honesty.
This short story read really well. I found it satisfying and complete and I got a great feel for the characters (I'd really love to read more about Ivy someday). It has a great mix of humour, wonderful characters and atmospheric scariness. I especially enjoyed the magical elements and there's an excellent twist which caught me completely by surprise.
Very clever and fun. I'd recommend this short story to anyone. A really enjoyable read.
I love short, quick hitting, tales of horror that involve inappropriate decisions. Eldritch Black does a great job of leading us into a well woven story by giving us a self-obsessed teen who looks to take a short cut without ever looking at the big picture. It's really fun to be pulled into the village, taken through the festival, and the action, only to be full on slapped with the final hook in the end. I'm definitely going to be checking out the authors other books because I greatly enjoyed this one.
